Battle of Cold Harbor

an HMS American Cultures collaborative production

The battle of Cold Harbor was one of the bloodiest days in America's history. Thousands upon thousands of Union soldiers under Gen. Ulysses S. Grant were killed, fighting against Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The battle was fought in Virginia, the same place where the Battle of Gaines' Mill was fought during the Seven Days Battles of 1862. The Union and Confederate soldiers were tripping over the bones of killed soldiers of during the previous battle. Cold Harbor was also extremely close to the Confederate capital of Richmond. The battle was won by Lee's army.
