Colt Dragoon Revolver

The Colt Dragoon Revolver was arguably the most popular handgun used during the Civil War. It replaced the Colt Walker Revolver after the Mexican War because it was a lot more accurate and did not have the chance to explode when fired. It was put into service in the Civil War and it was invented by Samuel Colt who was once a Texas Ranger. The Colt Dragoon Revolver was a very large and heavy gun, but it was only a little smaller than the Colt Walker Revolver. The Colt Dragon Revolver weighs about 4 pounds and 4 ounces and is 14.75 inches long. The gun is a .44 caliber revolver with a 6 shot cylinder. The muzzle velocity is about 1,100 feet per second and is effective of about 50 or more yards. This made this gun one of the most powerful Pistols used in the civil war and is still more powerful than a lot of pistols today.
