Guerrilla Warfare

an HMS American Cultures collaborative production

Geurrilla warfare is using smaller units in ambushes, raids, and other mobile tactics to attack larger more formal armies. Guerrilla warfare is based off of two elements, stealth and surprise. There often effective due to their mobility compared to those of larger armies. This was more commonly used on the confederate side due to their smaller numbers and the north's larger armies. It was thought that if Lee did not surrender at the Appottox Court House there would just be Guerrilla warfare until one side just gave in. This may have caused the war to end much later then it did which likely may of changed the fate of America as we know it. These tactics are very similar to modern warfare in warfare used against other countries today.
