P.G.T. Beauregard

P.G.T. Beauregard was born in New Orleans on May 28, 1818. He was known as a General for the Confederate States of America. He was trained at the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 1838. Beauregard excelled at artilleryman and military engineering. He was one out of eight full generals of the confederate army. Beauregard recommended to station strong forces at New Orleans, but was over ruled by Jefferson Davis. Their relationship would get worse as the war goes on. Beauregard lead Cofederate forces to a victory at The battle of Manassasbut had to withdraw from The battle of Shiloh. He repeatedly gaurded Charleston from many Union attacks. On April 1865, Beauregard surrenered toU. S. Grantand William T. Sherman. General Pierre Gustave Toutant de Beauregard, his full name, died on February 20, 1893.
